DGFT digital signature — which certificate, and what documents
DGFT licences, ICEGATE, RCMC and EPCG. The portal validates your certificate against your IEC profile, so the name on it has to match — here is exactly what that means.

- Import Export Code (IEC) certificate
- PAN of the IEC holder — individual or organisation
- Organisation registration documents, where the IEC is held by a company or LLP
- Authorisation letter, where the certificate is for a signatory acting on behalf of the IEC holder
- Aadhaar card
- Email address
- Active mobile number
Before you apply
The certificate must be registered against your IEC on the DGFT portal after it is issued — this is a separate step from issuance itself, and skipping it means the certificate will not actually work on DGFT services even though it is valid.
Video verification
Every digital signature certificate needs a short video verification before it can be issued. You record it yourself, from your own phone or laptop — it takes two to three minutes.
How to record it
- 1.Log in and open Record Video.
- 2.Read the text on your screen out loud, including your verification code.
- 3.Organisation and foreign DSC: hold up each document you uploaded, one at a time, so it is clearly readable on camera.
- 4.Submit.
The text on screen reads something close to this:
“My name is Narendra. My video verification code is 123. I have applied for Digital Signature.”
Read the version shown on your own screen — your name, your code. Don't recite the example above.
Before you press record
Sit somewhere quiet with steady light on your face. The audio is checked as carefully as the video, so a fan, a TV or traffic behind you is enough to fail a recording.
Why videos get rejected
- Face not fully in frame, or too dark to make out
- Speech unclear, too quiet, or drowned out by background noise
- People or movement behind you
- Documents held too close, too far, or out of focus to read
A rejected video means recording again and waiting for the second one to be reviewed, so it is worth two quiet minutes the first time.
